No doubt, clicking title songs can serve as the best marketing product to advertise a new movie. Now title songs need to be catchy so that it gets the attention of public in short time. It’s true too. Present generation is very fast and they want everything quick in instant packets. So, they see movies seeing the visualized promos as well as the catchy title and title songs. Through this column I would like to mention a few hit songs of past two decades which played a significant role in the success of the movie.

Let me begin with Shah Rukh Khan’s Baazigar, released 20 years back in 1993. ‘Baazigar O Baazigar’ was a lovely sung composed by Anu Malik, sung by Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik and beautifully pictured on the top Jodi of Bollywood, ‘SRK and Kajol’. No doubt, this song is still young in the hearts of millions of SRK fans and this title song has played a significant role in the success of this thriller. Now let me mention a few more top title songs of Shah Rukh Khan. Mein hoo naa, Kuch kuch hota hai, Kabhi khushi kabhi gum, Mein hoon Don, Kabhi alvida na kehna and Chalte chalte have a lot of stories to tell about the success of these movies.

Now let me take other Khans into my list. ‘Odli chunariya’ of Pyar kiya to darna kya is still considered one among the best songs of Salman’s 90 movies. Tere Naam gave a new definition to Salman Khan’s film career and for that the song ‘Tere naam hum ne kiya hai’ sung by Udit Narayan and music given by Himesh Reshammyya helped a lot. Similar hit title songs of Salman movies include Debangg, Har dil jo pyar kiya, Biwi no.1, Mujhse shaadi karoge, do you wanna partner of Partner and Hum dil de chuke sanam.  

Title songs of Saathiya, Rangeela, Dhoom and Soldier have played significant roles in the success of these movies. Now let me take the name of a few more hit title songs of the past two decades – Pyar to hona hi tha, Dil se, Salaam e Ishq, Khalnayak, Hum dil de chuke sanam, Rang de basanthi, Dil chata hai, Kaho naa pyar hai, Om Shanthi Om and Hum aapke hain kaun. Though Aashiq banaya aapne was a big flop, this hit song was very popular.
