Rabindranath Tagore- a world poet was not only a poet, but he was a great writer of many literatures, songs. He was a great composer, an actor and director also.

Date of birth: - 7th May 1861

Died on 7th August 1941

Fathers name: Maharshi Debendranath Tagore.

Mother’s Name: Sarada Devi.

He first wrote poem on his eight years of age. After that he wrote many. Geetanjali is a famous book of poem written by him. He won Novel Prize also. He refused the Knighthood on the protest of Jaliwanabagbag facts. He was a great patriot also. Mahatma Gandhi called him as Gurudev and He also gave the name Gandhiji to him. The national anthem Jana Gana Mana was written by him. The national anthem of Bangladesh- Amar Sonar Bangla was also written by him. The national song Of India was composed by him also.

Shantiniketan is the Asram of Gurudev is famous now. The land was purchased by his father Debendranath but first one school was started there By Rabindranath. Now it is a famous University called Viswabharati. Many famous people came here for study like Indira Gandhi, Amartya Sen etc.

In the early age Rabindranath Tagore did not go to school. His father helped him to get study at home. In childhood once he was given to translate Macbeth in Bengali and he successfully did it. So he was an extraordinary talent from child hood. After that he came in touch of nature and wrote many poems on Nature.

His creation in the field of Novel, drama, short stories is still famous. He was a great painter also. Such creator does not take birth again. He went to foreign many times and came in touch of many great persons. He also went to England.

Poetry- Bhanu singher padabali, Manashi, Sonar tari, Geetanjali , Balaka, etc.

Drama- Dakghar, Bisarjan, Raja, Rakta karabi etc.

Memories- Jeeban srti, Chelebela etc.

Fiction- Nastanir, Gora, Gare birey, Jogajog etc.

Today also we use many songs of him in cinema also. Some drama also still used now. We remember him every year on his birthday and we are proud for this great son of India.
