Establishment Of The Mughal Empire In India

India was ruled by thousands of kings before its independence. The Mughal Emperors made their noticeable footprints in the annals of the Indian history. They ruled India for over three centuries. They had a great flair for architecture. The great historical monuments like The Taj Mahal, The Red Fort, The Jama Masjid, The Humayun’s Tomb, The Fatehpur Sikri, The Sikandara and The Ram Bagh resemble the glory of the great Mughal Empire.

The Mughal Dynasty was first established by the king, Babur who was a Turk. During his time, there was no proper political system to rule over the Delhi Sultanate. Ibrahim Lodhi was only a namesake king at that time. The kingdom was originally ruled over by his nobles. As the system was too weak, it broke down at last. One of the nobles was Daulat Khan who was not satisfied by the political system of Lodhi. And he actually wanted to bring a political change.

Daulat Khan called Babur to conquer India to establish a powerful rule. Babur used this opportunity to fulfil his cherished desire of establishing an empire in India. But his soldiers faced many challenges at first and after a long struggle he was able to get his victory by capturing the North West part of India.

Later he moved to Delhi and defeated Ibrahim Lodhi at the Battle of Panipat. Though Ibrahim Lodhi owned a powerful army, he lost the battle as Babur possessed an outstanding leadership and lots of weapons. He brought the battle to an end by success on his side in just half a day.

In order to establish his Mughal Empire over a large area, Babur had to face lots of challenges from various rulers of the neighbouring countries. However the empire was firmly established after his son Humayun succeeded him. Sher Shah Suri defeated Humayun and set up his power. But this rule lasted only for a short period of time and, Humayun established his empire again and he handed over the power to his son Akbar. Akbar firmly established his power and extended his territory. He made Fatehpur Sikri as the capital city of the Empire from 1571 to 1578. Thus Mughal rule footed strongly in India.
