Dileep Always Tries To Experiment With His Roles

It may due to the positive energy he received from the struggling period of his career, Dileep always take any type of role with challenge and always try to bring variations in his roles and till now, he has been successful not to put himself under type cast heroes who may be busy in shooting action scenes or just doing comedy roles. Yes, Dileep belongs to the rarest group of Malayalam actors who can’t be put under any special series of films. Though he has not been as powerful as Super stars of Malayalam - Mammooty, Suresh Gopi and Mohan Lal in doing action sequences and delivering powerful dialogues, he has been always successful in delivering hits after hits through his romantic as well as comedy packages, thus truly staying as the ‘Best entertainer of common man’.

If you are going through the bad phase of your life or career and want relief from pressures and tensions, best option is to buy a ticket for Dileep’s films. This actor has been entertaining and pulling the crowd to theatres through his light comedies and variety roles he has been playing till now. Among the list of experimental movies, the first one that comes to my mind is of course, Kunji Kunan in 2002. It was a time when Meesa Madhavan put him among top ranked actors of Mollywood. He made down himself and presented himself as ‘hunchback’. The audience laughed and cried with his screen presence and his marvelous performance brought him the first awards in many award functions.

Second movie that comes to my mind is ‘Chanthu pottu’. State government denied him the best actor award giving different reasons. Yet it was one among the best experimental and challenging roles played by a hero ever in Malayalam screen. He did the role of Radha Krishnan who is brought up like a girl by his grandmother, as she likes girl kids a lot. His instant comedies and dialogues were treats to eyes and still now, he considers it to be the difficult character he ever played onscreen. A movie ‘Chakkara Muthu’ of same genre was released in 2006, though it couldn’t repeat the success of Chandu pottu. But Marikkundoru Kunjaru (Mary has a little lamb) repeated the success.

In 2012, Dileep did Maya Mohini, where he did the makeup of a lady to fool two friends. Though the movie was criticized for bad jokes and script, this movie pulled people to theatres. All people just want to see him in an entertainer role. Most recently in 2013, Sound Thoma was released and still running successful in theatres. Yes, he is experimenting with his roles and audience always appreciates good roles if treated in a good and pleasant manner.
