No doubt, Dileep is the most popular and entertaining hero of Malayalam at present; perhaps the only person in the industry who has always tried to bring something new to his character and mannerism with every new movie, he associates himself with. Best example is ‘Sound Thoma’ where he plays the role of Thoma, the son of a rich person with a cleft lip and defective voice.  He entertains the whole crowd with his dialogues and accent and now also, the movie is running houseful – Vishu release of Kerala this time.

He joined the industry as an assistant director during early 90’s and associated himself with a few hit movies of director Kamal, whom Dileep considers as his mentor till now. He debut with Ennodishtam Koodamo in a supporting role in the year 1993. He did a few roles in supporting role like Sainyam and Maanathe Kottaram till he worked as hero for a full-fledged movie – Kalyana Saugandhikam. It was the debut movie of Divya Unni as heroine too. The movie was successful and people accepted him as an actor. Very soon he was paired with Manju Warrier for a series of successful movies like Sallaapam and Ee puzhaym kadannu. Both these movies were enough to establish them both as talented actors and very soon, in 1998 they got married. That time, Dileep was a struggling actor and Manju, the top heroine of the industry.

He did a series of movies after that, single hero roles as well as multi-star cast – success and flop rates were almost equal. Joker (2000), Mayaponmaan (1997), Chandranudikkunna Dikkil and Anuraga Kottaram (1999) were among those successful movies during his struggling career. At this time, he played supporting actor or younger brother’s role of many movies of Mammooty, Suresh Gopi and Mohan lal. In 2000, his role in Thenkasi Pattanam was appreciated very much. Very soon after Manju Warrier, Kavya Madhavan became his lucky co-star and played an important role in establishing as super star of Mollywood.

When Meesa Madhavan was released in 2002, pairing him again with Kavya Madhavan, the movie was a record breaker and thus began the successful career of Dileep in right track. Two more massive hits in the same year – Kunji koonan and Kalyana Raman were enough to get him appreciation from public as well as critics. It has been 11 years since the magical career of Dileep started. Now he is considered among the money banks of Mollywood. No doubt, it’s his true dedication, patience and passion that brought out real talent from this great actor of present times.
