The association of Dileep with Kavya as co-stars was formed with the movie ‘Chandranudikkunna Dikkil’ in 1999 – the movie which marked beginning of Kavya Madhavan as an actress. Before that, she has worked in a few Kamal movies in which Dileep has acted as assistant director behind screens. One such movie was Azhakiya Ravanan in 1996. In another Kamal movie, Kai kudanna nilavu, Dileep acted as supporting actor while Kavya Madhavan did the role of a child actress as heroine’s younger sister. Once I read in a magazine, when Kavya Madhavan met Dileep in sets of a Kamal film, she called him uncle! Who know then, they are going to create magic onscreen earning the title, ‘Best onscreen couple of Mollywood’.

When ‘Chandranudikkunna Dikkil’ was released in 1999, young Kavya was only 14. Yet people loved their onscreen chemistry and romantic songs a lot. Next year, movie Thenkasi pattanam was released – the movie in which Kavya did the sister’s role of Suresh Gopi and Lal and Dileep, a worker in her brothers’ firm, who loves Kavya a lot. Everyone really liked the comic scenes a lot – particularly the scene with ox head and the scene where Dileep pours cattle feed on his head, thinking it is turmeric water made by Kavya Madhavan on auspicious lover’s day. Same year, Darling Darling was also released.  

In 2001, Dosth was released. Surprisingly, Kavya played the role of younger sister of Dileep and she was paired opposite Kunjacko Boban. They worked in Mammooty’s Rakshasa Rajavu too, in the same year. But it was Meesa Madhavan of 2002 that placed them at no.1 position of Mollywood and after that, they have acted in a series of movies together. Their movies were so successful that they had to face even rumours of their close relationship and that Kavya will work only opposite Dileep. But it’s not a truth at all, though have been a celebrating couple onscreen. Even while Kavya’s divorce happened, you tube videos were spread linking her with Dileep. But through their movies and intervention of Manju Warrior, Dileep’s wife, everything was proved false and still they act together to deliver numerous Malayalam hits.

Now let me list significant movies of this pair – Paappi Appacha, Sadananthante Samayam, Vellaripravinte Changathi, Thilakkam, Lion, Kochi rajavu, Inspector garud, Chakkara muth, Christian brothers and Mizhi Randilum belong to the critically well acclaimed and successful films of this onscreen couple.
