About Colva Beach The white, golden sand with lush coconut palms at the fringe of it definitely makes Colva, one of the gems of Goan beaches. Had it not been broken into smaller sections or Koleam, it would have been the longest beach in the world, stretching almost 20 kilometers. Located at just 6 km from the railhead Margao, and 39km from Panjim - capital of Goa - Colva is a major tourist attraction. The visitors to Colva are mainly the locals and majority of the foreign tourists prefer to flock the Anjuna and Calangut beach. Colva is dotted with some really good restaurants that dish out some of the popular Goan cuisines to its visitors. There are several entry points to the beach and one can find ample parking space at all these entry points. Water sports are popular at this beach, but the main attraction is the parasailing. You can opt for a swim as the waters are amongst the safest, the visitors can have a great fun filled time at this beautiful place.

 

How to Reach?

 

Goa is very well connected with the rest of India by Air, Rail and Road. You can opt for a bus or a train ride from Mumbai, or Bengaluru. The nearest Rail head is Margao, 6km and all the buses coming to Goan from other nearby cities usually end up here. To reach the beach from Margao, you can hire a taxi but make sure you bargain as they tend to charge you on the higher end.

 

Where to stay?

 

The hotels at Colva are reasonably priced and you can find several guest houses if you are not going to splurge on fancy, luxurious hotels. Off season rates of these hotels can be as cheap as Rs. 450 while some upscale hotels charge anything from Rs. 4500 upward. During season time these same rooms can be booked at anything from Rs. 1500 upwards and depends on the hoteliers. The rooms at majority hotels are clean and some of the hotels are even located at the beach and have balcony to each room.
