Chorwad beach, once a summer retreat of the pleasure-loving Nawabs of Junagadh, is a mix of rocky shores, jaunting boat rides and fishing activity. The association of it with the Nawabs and a transformation today as a potential tourist attraction makes Chorwad a unique experience. Apart from being rocky and sandy, the beach is also a place for the impressive Chorwad Palace built by Mohabat Khan in 1930s, now a beach palace resort.

Chorwad is a very scenic and beautiful spot that is yet to find its place on the itinerary of tourists - domestic and foreign alike. ITs nearness to town of Porbandar and Somnath makes it an ideal destination for those who wish to add a bit every aspect that Gujarat has to offer. Once at Chorwad you can take up horse-riding along the beach. The Chorwad Palace was once used to house the Kathiawadi thoroughbreds of the Junagarh Nawabs. You can even indulge into something that all the other visitors do here – be lazy. Just soaking in the sun or lazing on the shimmering sands is considered an activity. For more romantics they can stroll in the cool of some romantic night, or take a walk with your beloved one along sands washed by the tide and silvered by the moon.

How to Reach? Chorwad is connected by a direct railway from Ahmedabad. The nearest railway station is Veraval. The excellent road connects it to Junagadh, Girnar, The Gir Sanctuary and the famous temple of Somnath. Both the towns of Junagadh and Somnath offer sightseeing tours and sightseeing buses. It is also connected by air with the nearest airport at Keshod only 35 kms away.  

Where to stay?

Chorwad is around 23 km from the town of Veraval and some 65 km from the town of Junagadh. There are some decent accommodations at Chorwad itself, including the Nawab's Palace that has now being converted into a royal resort. Also you can opt to stay at Junagadh and visit Chorwad for a day trip. The Nawabs palace offers a very nice accommodation to the visitors looking for the exotic Kathiawadi experience.
