Nothing could deter Cheteshwar Pujara from scoring his second double century in Test matches in a very short time span. After scoring 206 not out against England only a few weeks back, Pujara was once again back to business and scoring runs for his team. It was a memorable innings and the one filled with confidence.

Pujara was not 100% fit on the third day of the Test. That was because he had a bad knee while batting on the second day. He continued to bat in the same fashion irrespective of the fact that he had a sour knee. It did not look at any time that he was in trouble, the pains never showed on his face.

Here is a breakup of how Pujara scored his runs:

Runs 1 to 50: 141 balls

Runs 51 to 100 188 balls (47 more)

Runs 101 to 150: 230 balls (42 more)

Runs 151 to 200: 332 balls (102 more)

From this you can say that Pujara’s fastest score was from 101 to 150. He was going great guns with Murali Vijay then. The watchful period was over and it was time to capitalize on the loose balls and take some risk. The risk was paying off well for Pujara.

On the other hand, the score of the first 50 runs were the slowest. This is where both Murali Vijay and Pujara played many maiden overs. This is where they took the time to settle down early on. The strike rate had dropped to almost below 30 at one stage. However, with time, his eyes got set and his footwork had improved too.

There was hardly any error in timing the ball. It was only a matter of a perfect timing that the ball would rush to the boundary ropes. The new ball worked wonders for the pair as the ball was coming more nicely on the bat and runs had started to flow.

Pujara hit 30 fours and only one six in his innings that gave India a definite chance of winning this Test match. His earlier double century had also come in a winning cause. We hope the same happens once again. The Indian bowlers are doing an excellent job at the moment with the ball and it looks difficult for the Aussie batsmen to save this Test.
