They do not know how do describe themselves

Most asked question in an interview is to tell some one about himself and trust me, most people are not prepared this common question. They caught either unaware or too confused to find a particular end of a rope to begin with. The fact is the question, which need to describe a person appearing for an interview is one of the most common question but most people take it very lightly and never answer it in a systematic way.

The questions you may face in an interview

The people sitting at the other side of the table know every thing about your academic qualifications, experiences etc. because you are sitting there on the basis of your CV that you had already submitted before you were called for an interview, so that should not be a major issue. Now the points to discuss are related to your other achievements and your goals for future and the way you face your interviewers is the basic aim of these questions. They only want to see your confidence level and you handle situation while dealing with strangers especially while ‘YOU’ are the subject.

The most asked question- Tell me about something interesting about yourself that you haven’t mentioned in your CV’- Now most people are taken aback and cannot think of a proper answer to this simple query. Some of the candidates try to tell about their academic qualifications, which all are there in your bio-data and they are not expecting those. Some others talk about their family backgrounds, which again is none of their business, not from a professional at least. They expect you discus about your current job, or last job profile and not that you played badminton for your engineering college. You might find yourself in a jam if the person sitting opposite you was least interested in games like badminton. An interviewer is least interested in your family background, educational background, your hobbies etc unless he has asked about these specifically. 

Conclusion

A fresher might find this question tough to answer because he has almost nothing to tell them about his experiences or achievements but a professional is expected to show his hidden potential, your personality, your way of expression, the way you can present a project and your verbal abilities. Body language is an important aspect of a candidate, therefore keep it in mind that you do not overreact while telling them about yourself.
