Be Cool! The First Mantra For Exams

Do you know Prema? She is the first rank holder of Charted Accountant exams when results were declared. She belongs to a slum area of Mumbai and she lives in a single room home with old sheeted roof. Sitting below that tin roof she conquered the complex principles of mathematics and achieved first rank in CA when results were declared on 23rd January, 2013. Such brilliant students always find a space for their columns in our daily newspapers. It’s only because they worked hard despite of their bad times and bad financial situations and achieve those shining results that everyone see in dreams only.  ‘If she can do so, why can’t I?’, why can’t a student think so?

Examinations are not as fierce as the examinations of life, fortune and destiny. Yet hearing the name of exams our kids always face deep stress and tensions. Why so? Why can’t they remain cool and take it so easy? The real truth is that, even if the student learns a lot, his impatient mind and stressed thoughts makes everything forgot. So, the first step needed for exam preparation is to stay cool and take it easy. Let me give you a few more tips.

Read books knowing its meaning – Be friendly with your text books. Separate lessons according to how you have read them, less or more. Pictures, graphs and tables should be given preference. In addition to it, connect ideas and situations so that you can understand and reproduce them easily. Use a highlighter and underline important points while reading books.

Cool off time – Earlier preference was given to bi-hearting things and reproducing it to answer sheets. Nothing needed to be passed from mind or brains to papers. But now, things have changed a lot. Kids need to imagine and think a lot before answering. He also needs to share his own opinions and conclusions. Misinterpreting the question can lead to bad score card. Over confidence and carelessness are its reasons. Here comes the significance of cool off time.  Cool off time helps you to understand score of the question, time allotted and the total length of answer.

Medicine for forgetters – Main problem with students is mere forgetting. We forget certain thinks easily while able to recall certain things easily. It’s only because of our tastes and interests. So, enjoy your studies, remain patient and cool. Then off course, you need not fear exams to be the ‘biggest troubles’ of your life.
