Bangalore is a beautiful city located in the southern part of India. It is placed on the Western Ghats at the height of 949 meters above sea level. Due to its location and height, weather in Bangalore is very pleasant, all year long.

Bangalore is a city covered with much greenery and this is the reason for its low temperature. Bangalore weather can never make you experience the real Indian summers because when most parts of the country are blistering hot, this city will be enjoying a pleasant climate. Many people refer to it as the Garden City or the Air-conditioned city. The city enjoys three prominent seasons, which are summer, winter and rainy season. The temperature is not extreme in any of the seasons and thus makes everybody to fall in love with its weather. It has also added to the city’s population.

Summers in Bangalore weather are moderate. March, April and May are the warmest months where temperature rises as high as 36 degrees. Though most of the days are dry and pleasant, occasional heat waves can add to the heat, a little. Humidity level is not too high during summer. One can expect some thunderstorms and showers during summer evenings, which further add to the pleasantness of the Bangalore weather. It is a joy in itself to play in these gentle showers.

The rainy season in Bangalore starts from mid June and stretches till October. As it is placed on the Deccan Plateau, it receives major part of its rainfall from the South-Western Monsoon winds like most parts of the country. These are powerful winds originating from the northern part of the Equator traveling towards Asia. On their way, they pick up great amount of moisture from the Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea. It rains almost throughout the rainy season continuously and the annual measurement is about 860 mm. There are many occasions when heavy rain lashes the city and many low-lying areas are flood. This upsets the transportation and day today life to an extent. Some amount of rainfall is contributed by the South- East monsoon winds as well blowing from the Bay of Bengal. All the trees and bushes blossom to the fullest, making the city really beautiful to look at. You can see many fruits and flowers exhibitions being held around the city at this time. Many exotic fruits and flowers are successfully grown in Bangalore because of its pleasant climate.

Weather in Bangalore is at its best during winters. The temperature starts to drop as the monsoon winds stop blowing. From the end of October till the whole of February, Bangalore enjoys pleasant winter. It is not really shivering cold here, but the temperature drops almost about 20 degrees from what it was in summer. On an average it rages between 15 to 17 degrees but some winter nights can be as cold as 8 degrees.

Owing to its enjoyable climate, Bangalore is not only sought after place to live in India but also one of the favorite tourist destinations. It serves as a pit stop for people who are traveling to Ooty, Kerala and other tourist spots in south India.
