Anjana Padmanabhan, the 10 year old from Bengaluru, came out victorious to win the first season of the Indian Idol Junior singing reality show. She overcame tough challenge from Debanjana Karmakar who comes from West Bengal, Nirvesh Dave from Gujarat and Anmol Jaswal who hails from Jammu.

The winner was announced by Big B, who was on the sets of the show, especially for the announcement. The show was judged by singer and composer Shekhar Ravjiani and Vishal Dadlani and the female singer Shreya Ghoshal. The hosts of the show were Karan Wahi and Mandira Bedi.

Anjana took home quite a reasonable amount of booty as she was showered with prices all around. As the winner, Anjana won Rs. 2 lakhs from Horlicks, Rs. 5 lakhs from Kotak and a car as promised by Nissan and of course Rs. 25 lakhs from Sony TV.

The competition was really tough when the final six contestants were remaining. Apart from these four, the other two potential candidates who could have won the title were Sugandha Date from Maharashtra and Sonakshi Kar, who also comes from West Bengal.

It was difficult to pick the winner as every week some contestant or the other gave a performance of his/her life. Sonakshi was a strong candidate and so was Sugandha. However, their shocking elimination opened the doors for the remaining contestants.

Only public voting could make out the difference amongst the hopeful singers. The judges were always awestruck with their performances and so were the special guests. Among those who visited the show were Sonakshi Sinha – twice, singer Sukhdvinder Singh, the trio of Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan and Loy, brothers Salim and Suleiman.

For the finale, there were also some guests present. First it was Shahid Kapoor who had come for promotion of his upcoming film. Priyanka Chopra along with Ram Charan also visited the sets to promote their film. And finally it was Amitabh Bachchan to announce the winner.

As far as Anjana Padmanabhan is concerned, she said that her dream is to become a pilot in the future. Well, that is indeed surprising for someone who has won such a competition that is not only popular but also pretty tough.
