Ameesha Patel can be counted among the one-hit wonders of Bollywood who has entered the celluloid with a block buster, yet couldn’t succeed or sustain in the industry. Ameesha is one among the stars who has debut the silver screen with rise of new millennium. Hritik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Arjun Rampal and Kareena Kapoor were other stars of Bollywood who debut in the year 2000, yet became successful. Ameesha Patel debut through Kaho na pyar hai opposite Hritik Roshan in the year 2000. The movie was a blockbuster that made Hritik a superstar overnight and Ameesha was not noted much. The movie won majority of film awards too.

In 2000, she acted in Telugu movie – Badri which was a big hit. Next year, she was paired with Sunny Deol in Gaddhar – Ek Prem Katha which broke several box office records, becoming the highest grosser of Bollywood. Thus she had a magical start in Bollywood. But later, she couldn’t replicate the success of these two movies, except Humraaz and Honeymoon Travels Pvt limited. In Bhool Bhulayya, she was given supporting actress role and the movie was a big success of Bollywood.

Among the list of flops, a few movies can be included that were expected to become hit. Kya yehi pyar hai, Kranti, Aap mujhe ache lagne lage, Parwana, Suno sasurji, Yeh hai jalwa, Mangal Pandey – the rising, Mere jeevan saathi and Kranti. She was paired opposite Hritik Roshan twice. Seeing the success of Kaho na pyar yaar, they were casted in Aap mujhe ache lagne lage. Though its music was noted and given good publicity, the movie flopped due to bad script and performances below expectations. Aamir casted her against him in much expected movie - Mangal Pandey – the rising, the movie in which Aamir grew natural hair for 3 years to make the movie appeal real. Though this movie hit theaters after a gap of 3 years, box office collections were much low than expectations and it was declared flop.

After the first two successful movies, only two were able to reach expectations. She surprised everyone through her powerful performance in Humraaz and the movie was a big success. She was nominated in the best actress category too, in Filmfare though she couldn’t win it. In the multi-starrer Honeymoon Travels Pvt Limited, she handled the role with comic touch that was well appreciated.

She has been in news for her relationship with director Vikram Bhatt and her filing suit against her family. Now let us wait for some big surprises from this beautiful actress, who entered Bollywood as a naughty heroine of Kaho na pyara hai.
