Amaravila is a small beautiful village in Thiruvanathapuram district. It is situated in Neyyatinkara town (3 km from Neyyattinkara Sree Krishna Swami Temple) at NH 47 on the way to Kanyakumari. One has to cross Amaravila when travelling from Trivandrum to Kaniya Kumari or Tamil Nadu.

There are many educational institutions near this place. Noorul Islam Institute of Industrial Training (NIIT), LMS Higher Secondary School, Govt Aided LMS LP School, CSI Teachers Training Institute, CSI English Medium School, LMS High school, CSI TTI Amaravila , PGMVHSS Pullamala, Bharathiya vidyamandiram, Vimalahridaya English Medium School.

Amaravila CSI church (22 km from Trivandrum), Amaravila Juma Masjid, Mahadewar Temple (about 1000 years old), are major attractions of this place. In Mahadeve temple Siva is the main idol and other sub deities are Vigneshvara and Nagaraja. The CSI church in Amaravila is the largest CSI church in Kerala. It was built in 1895. It consists of a highersecondary school, one shopping complex, community hall and a high school in its compound.

Amaravila has second biggest and first integrated check-post in Kerala. The check post includes services of the Commercial Taxes, Motor Vehicle Departments and Excise. There are  Mutharamman temple and  Mahaganapathy temples in this place. There is one Government tile factory and Post Office in this place.

The place is surrounded by green paddy fields and the river Neyyar.Neyyattinkara, Udiyankulangara, Dhanuvachapuram, Nediyankode, Karakonam,Vellarada, Kottamom, Parasuvaikkal, Parassala are nearest places.

Karakonam Medical College is the nearest Medical College. The famous Kurisumala Pilgrim centre is near to Amaravila. It is one of the prominent pilgrim centres in Kerala. This mount is suited for meditation and prayer .In 1984 Kurisumala was declared as an official pilgrim centre.

V.S Sivakumar who was a member of Parliament in the 13th Lok Sabh and Minister for Transport and Devaswom of the Government of Kerala was born and bought up in Amaravila. Sumangali Auditorium, Devika Auditorium are in Amaravila. There are Syndicate Bank and Muthoot Finance Ltd -NBFC,Bank in Amaravila.

 Neyyar Wild Life Sanctuary, Neyyar Dam,Poovar Beach are nearest tourist attraction. Neyyattinkara, Mekkamandapam, Martandam are nearby cities of Amaravila. Nearest railway station is Amaravila Railway Station. Trivandrum International Airport is the nearest airport.
