A Plea For Parents From Fellow Suffering Students

There is some reason for which I’ve thought up to doing this piece of writing. I think it is from sufferings and pain that a writer evolves. And I think my situations had led me into sharing my experience and suggestions to parents whose children are facing their 10/12th examinations. Being a student, I would also like to share the emotions which a student goes through, during this exam season, which often everybody forgets to care.

It is the famous season of exams now. And a pretty bunch of students suffer at their homes. Students are at the end of their schooling and are to enter a major phase of their career in colleges. It’s their mark in this exam that will decide the quality of courses and colleges they could take up. Most of the students are much aware of all these matters. My suggestion to students is that they should understand their level of studying, and make the best out of it. It’s sure that you will achieve your best.

Parents are very much tensed and concerned at this period of time, and we know it’s because of their care for us and our future. But parents often forget what impact over pressure can cause to their children. Parents freak out if they find their children playing or watching TV for some time. They take away mobile phones from their wards. They don’t allow children to step out of their house. They yell at their children if they didn’t study. They’ll arrange special tuitions at the peak time. Parents will find all way out, by whatever means, to make their children study.

Dear parents, one thing you should know is the amount of stress all this changes will bring to your child. I’m not telling parents that they shouldn’t imply restrictions on their children. It’s in fact necessary for the child to evolve obediently. But it should not exceed the limit that it brings adverse effect in students. During this time of examinations, children are often stressed up, and more stress from parents can result in lack of self confidence and courage in them. Parents often tell their children that they’ll fail if they don’t study. This is an extremely discouraging way of advice. Parents should instead be supportive to the students and constantly make them aware of their talents, and encourage them to study. This can definitely help the student in achieving more. Instead of shouting or yelling at students, parents should confront them with companionship and make them study. I’m sure if parents behave in this way, students can achieve a lot more than they deserve.

And, students and parents should remember that every student is unique and has their own specific talents, in which they will shine, so they should not be compared with other children, and getting low marks in exam is not the end of their journey, but there are infinite opportunities waiting for them in this beautiful world. Hoping a stress free exam season.
