Pavagadh Travel Guide

Pavagadh is the name of a beautiful hill station in the Indian state of Gujarat. It is located in the Panchmahal district of the state. It is in close proximity to the city of Vadodara inn Gujarat and is famous for a Mahakali temple that is located here. Every year the place sees thousands of devotees to the temple for their prayers.

One of the main attractions of the place of Pavagadh is its height which is at 822 meters. This gives the place an unparallel advantage of some of the best views of the surrounding country. Not only is there a vast expanse of greenery for you to thrive your eyes on there are several waterfalls too that adds to the natural beauty of the place.

There is also a plateau region which is at a height of 490 meters. This is known as Machi Haveli. On this you will come across the ruins of the erstwhile Raval Palace. Machi is a bustling place in the region. There are shops and resting places along with eating outlets and even an extended bus service. you will also be able to accommodate for a night stay at one of the several holiday homes and small hotels available here.

You will also be able to see the Teliya Talav and the Dudhia Talav at a little distance further up. There is also a ropeway that has been built to facilitate easy traveling for tourists to the Temple of Goddess Kali.  There are approximately 250 steps that will need to be covered in order to reach the premises of the temple.

There are several tours and package offers for short trips that are conducted for Pavagadh and Champaner. These are conducted from the various nearby cities of Gujarat like Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar among others. These are short trips that can bring you back on the same day or even within a couple of days after an excursion of all the places in the nearby regions. People who are on a trip to Pavagadh also take the time to visit other places of Champaner like its forts and palaces.

But the one aspect that’s different about Pavagadh is the holy presence of the Mahakali temple that draws to it thousands of devotees every year coupled with the extensive natural beauty of the place. There is no dearth of facilities as far as accommodation and food availability is concerned – there are plenty of arrangements available at Machi. You will have a regular bus service that will take you to all other parts of Gujarat from here. There are private rental car and taxi services that are also available from here to take you to neighboring cities.
