The coastal city of Nagapattinam is located in the district of the same name in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a city that is believed to have been an important port city of the Chola Dynasty. There is a beautiful natural getup to this place which makes it an attractive destination for a holiday. It has one of the best harbors in India and is also a sacred place with the presence of several temples that are here. There is also a vast natural reserve that’s found in Nagapattinam which makes it one of the best places for seeing plenty of ecological diversity.

You can visit the Kayarohanaswamy Temple that is here. It is one of the seven shrines that are found in Vidangar. The presiding deity here is Kayarohanaswamy which is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. The temple is worshipped with reverence by thousands of people that come here every year. There are also other temples like that of Arumuguswamy Temple, Nellukadai Mariamman Temple, Sikkal Singaravelar Temple and the Soundararaja Perumal Temple.

There is a huge following for the Nellukudai Mariamman temple as a legend says that the Goddess appeared in the dream of a rice merchant and asked him to build a shrine for her. He built this beautiful temple. The beautiful temple of Soundararaja is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is a very popular place of visit for tourists and visitors to Nagapattinam. There is a lot of lavish splendor of gold that is worn by the deity which adds to the attraction of the temple as well.

There is many other aspects of the history of Nagapattinam that will enthrall you. Take a trip to the Archaeological Museum. The building is a 17th century Danish Fort located at Tranquebar that has been converted into the present museum. Besides the amazing architectural style that has been incorporated in the building there are paintings and sculptures that will be interesting to see. There is also a variety of inscriptions and carvings that is striking about the museum.

There are various ways to access the city of Nagapattinam. You can travel by airways to the nearest airport at Tiruchirapalli. There are regular scheduled flights that operate from here to Chennai International Airport. Nagapattinam has its own railway station that is well connected with plenty of trains operating between Chennai and Tiruchirapalli.

There is a well connected bus service that is available not only from Nagapattinam to other parts of Tamil Nadu but even to neighboring states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala among other states.

There are different kinds of hotels that are available at Nagapattinam. You can stay at luxury hotels and there is also a choice of budget hotels as well.
