Huddled in the tranquil surrounding of the Kannan Devan hills in Kerala, the picturesque Munnar lures travellers from far and near. This hill station boasts of panoramic view of the vibrant surroundings and of the forested area. The emerald tea estates of Munnar are sight worth savouring.  Munnar hill station is located at an altitude of 6,000 feet. It is a perfect place for nature enthusiasts, a paradise for them. Munnar literally means ‘three rivers’ derived from its location at the confluence of three mountain streams. It was the summer seat of the British and today it is an alluring tourist destination where tourists from far and near come to savour and inhale the beauty of the landscapes.

There are a number of tourist attractions at Munnar. The list seems endless. However, some of the many tourist spots are; Rajamalai National park, Marayoor, Mattupetti dam, Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary, Pothamedu, Devikulam, Poopara, Eravikulam National Park, Attukal Waterfalls, CSI Christ Church, Pallivasal, Nyayamakad, Mattupetty Lake, Rajamala, Chithirapuram, Echo Point, Anaimudi Peak, Kolukkumalai Tea Estate, Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, Seta Devi Lake, Thomaankuthu Falla, Thumpachi Calvei Samuchayam and lots of others.

One of the most beautiful of all the tourist spot is the Marayoor. A place of captivating beauty this tourist destination is adorned with sandal wood, rocky hills, rivers, waterfalls, cave temples which creates a spellbinding effect on those who comes across it. Marayoor is a place affluent with natural beauty and wildlife. The place apparently has its origin in the Stone Age Civilization. The caves and rich heritage stands testimony to the past civilization. It is a place of pristine beauty and charm and a place worth a stopover.

Another must visit spot is the Anamudi Peak. It lies in the Eravikulam National Park which itself is at the height of 2695m. The plateau is endowed with a rich cluster of flora and fauna. Some endangered animals are also found here. One can find Nilgiri languors, leopards, macaques and tigers. The place provides ample opportunity for trekking.

Pothamedu is an attractive spot adorned with imposing views of the tea, coffee and cardamom plantations. The sight comes before you embellished with the rolling hills, lush green mountains and incredible panorama. The place is ideal for trekking.

Located between Munnar and Pallivasal is another imposing tourist spot known by the name of Attukal. You will surely be fascinated with the splendour of the natural surrounding where the gushing waterfalls and the beautiful hills mingle to create an alluring ambience.

Munnar can be easily reached. The nearest airport is the Cochin International airport which is situated at a distance of 125km away. From here one can hire a taxi. The nearest railhead is at Angamaly or Alwaye both of which are situated at a distance of 120km from Munnar. Munnar is well connected with all other cities in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
