The staple food of Goa is rice and fish curry and the Goan cuisine is a blend of the local foods and Portuguese dishes. The prawn balchao and garlic kingfish have Portuguese flavor. Most of the food items are seafood based and the items like crabs, mussels, squid, lobster, tiger prawns, crabs and fishes like pomfret, shark, tuna and mackerel are used liberally. There are shacks in the beaches that serve you delicious meals. Vindaloo, Xacutti and Cafreal have their origin in Goa.
