Valluvar Kottam is a monument built in 1976 by the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. Karunanidhi and was dedicated to the poet saint Thiruvalluvar. All the 1330 verses of 133 chapters are inscribed on granite stones in the hall of the building.

The structure of Valluvar Kottam resembles a temple chariot rising to 39 meters. A life size statue of Thiruvalluvar was erected in it. It has a big auditorium to accommodate about 4000 people. The same architect V. Ganapati Sthapati who built the Thiruvalluvar Statue at Kanyakumari built this memorial also. More than 3000 stone blocks were used for its construction. It is opened on all days from 8 A.M. to 6 P.M. except on Fridays and National Holidays.
