Ripon Building is the place where the Chennai Corporation is functioning. The foundation of the building was laid on 12^th December 1909 by the Earl of Minto the Viceroy and the Governor General of India at that time. It was built by Loganatha Mudaliar in 1913 and it started to function as the Municipal Corporation. The first president was P.L. Moore.

Ripon Building was built with Indo-Saracenic style of architecture and this is 252 feet in length and 126 feet in width with three floors having 25,000 square feet area. Lord Ripon served as the viceroy from 1880 to 1884 and it was named after him. The central tower of the building is 43 meters tall with a clock of 2.5 meters diameter. The Cuddapah slate flooring has been replaced by the marbles.v
