Marina Beach in Chennai

Marina Beach runs for about 13 kilometers from Fort St. George to Besant Nagar in Chennai. This is the longest urban beach in India and the second longest in the world. It is one of the crowded beaches and this attracts more than 30,000 visitors per day.
People who visit Chennai visit this beach and there are more than 500 vendors selling eatables and other items on the beach. The fisherman colonies are located on the ends of the beach. The Marina Renovation Project was launched in February 2008 to provide seating arrangements and to improve the landscape and give lighting facilities. Many gazebos and pergolas were installed as the part of the program.
The memorials of C.N. Annadurai and M.G. Ramachandran who served as the Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu are situated on the northern end of the Anna Square. Many structures are erected such as the statue of the Triumph of Labor, Thiruvalluvar, Robert Caldwell, Veerama Munivar, Subramaniya Barathiyar, Subhash Chandra Bose, Annie Besant, Bharathidasan, Kamarajar, Thanthai Periyar, Avvaiyar, Swami Vivekananda and Mahatma Gandhi.
