The beautiful town of Anaimalai is in the Coimbatore district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. This is one of the many beautiful locations of South India that can be a perfect place for your next holiday. Comprising of incredible natural beauty this is also a popular destination for temples and other places of interest. One of the biggest factors of the place that draws thousands of tourists to it is it natural beauty that makes for some of the most picturesque landscapes and scenic views at different times of the day.

There is also a large scale wildlife that can be seen in Anaimalai. Among these you will commonly see spotted deer, panthers, crocodiles, tigers, elephants, civet cats and wild boars among several other species of animals. There is also a wide variety of birds that will be seen here. Make sure to spot birds like the spotted dove, rocket tailed drongo, tree pie and the bulbul with reddish whiskers among many others. Make a plan for a trip to the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary. This is a natural reserve where you can get to see all of these animals closely. And what is even more interesting is the arrangement of a safari styled trip that has been made with protective safari vans. There is a possibility for hiking and trekking here as well. The park is daily open from morning till evening hours.

It would make an interesting trip to Kolikamuthi Elephant Camp. South India is known for their reverence of elephants and the use of these in grand styles during celebrations and festivities of different temples. Here are Kolikamuthi you will get to see elephants being housed and trained in different ways. The people who are engaged in the task are the members of the Malisar tribe that reside here and are also skilled in this area of work for generations. You will however need to make prior permission arrangement from the Indira Gandhi wildlife sanctuary to visit the place. There is another elephant camp available at Varagaliar. Interestingly the elephants at this remote destination that is also farther away are trained to dissolve situations in case of wild elephants and human conflicts.

Anaimalai is also known for its trekking trips. There are several destinations that have been set here and trekkers undertake their journeys to these points. There are neighboring hills too that are extremely popular. You will need to seek prior permission. This is also a place for many Hindu and Jain temples. It is also known as one of the eight sanctified Jaina hills.

There are hotels and budget accommodations available here for your stay at Anaimalai. These are of impeccable standards. The place is easily accessible too. you can reach by airways through Coimbatore or the railway station at Pollachi.
