Zama Habib Biography

Zama Habib is a celebrity associated with Hindi television industry. He shot to fame after writing the script of Star Plus' very successful and unique show Sasural Genda Phool, where he acted as the co-producer also. Sapna Babul Ka...Bidaai, Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai and Saas Bina Sasural are other successful shows penned by the ace writer of television industry. Till now he has written for more than 5,000 episodes of Hindi and Bengali serials. He has also scripted and directed one short film - The Family, showed at many film festivals. Gangaa, Ek Nanad Ki Khushiyon Ki Chaabi...Meri Bhabhi, Tum Saath Ho Jab Apne and Muh Boli Shaadi are his recent works as a television script writer.

Zama Habib belongs to Madhubani, Bihar. Yet he spent his childhood days in Kolkata, West Bengal where he completed his school and college education. He completed Master’s in English literature from Aligarh Muslim University. Since college days he was involved with theater as a writer. He has also acted and directed several plays and his first play - Batwara was staged in the year 1988 in Kolkata. As a playwright his best known works are Janta Express and Chaddi Pahan Ke Phool Khila Hai, apart from translation of several world classics. He has also published Urdu poetry in many leading magazines.

In 1993, he reached Delhi where he joined AIR as a playwright and actor. He performed several radio plays and anchored many popular shows as well. He moved to Mumbai and encouraged by Sachin Pilgaonkar, joined television industry which proved to be the major success of his career. He has also penned lyrics for the songs and title tracks for television soaps. As a writer, some of his popular shows are Do Hanson Ka Jodaa, Maat Pitaah Ke Charnon Mein Swarg, Jeevan Saathi, Ek Ladki Anjaani Is, Jaal, Do Hanson Ka Jodaa, Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara, Kaisa Yeh Ishq Hai... Ajab Sa Risk Hai, Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se etc.
