Yogesh Dattatraya Gosavi Biography

Yogesh Dattatraya Gosavi is a noted filmmaker and screenwriter associated with Marathi cinema at present. Currently he is working on his Bollywood project, Yu Hi, which stars Rohit Nayyar and Elena Kazan in the lead roles and tells the love story of an Indian guy and a German girl. The shooting of the film started in March 2015 and the movie to be released in 2016 has already created a lot of buzz in the Marathi film industry. Yogesh is a recipient of Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival Award - Special Jury Award for Best Feature Film on Social Issue for Pratisaad - The Response. Known for directing many creative works in theatre and cinema, he is a winner of numerous awards too. He has also made TV commercials and documentaries.

Yogesh was born into a middle-class family in Pune. He holds the certificates of both MCom and MBA. After completing MBA he was into the private sector where he worked with banks and other financial institutions. Currently he owns his own production house Y. D. G. Films, which makes ad films, documentaries and movies. He is mostly associated with Marathi cinema and one of the leading filmmakers right now.

Yogesh has been associated with plays at a young age of 11, where he was a stage actor. At 16 he got into one-act plays and later got associated with commercial plays. He started off as a stage actor and lowly moved to theater director. He decided to pursue his dreams as a film director and worked as an assistant director for many movies assisting many leading directors of film line as well as television. In 2007, he started directing commercials and corporate films, and three years later he directed his first movie, Pratisaad - The Response followed by Gadbad Gondhal, which remains unreleased.
