VJ Chithra Biography

V. J. Chitra is a very popular Tamil anchor and video jockey. She is also an actress. Apart from being asuccessful VJ, she has dabbled into various fields such as modelling, acting, dancing and dubbing too.She is also a Psychologist. She has also done Banner Ads for Jeyachandran Textiles, Chennai Silks, etc,and a very familiar face among Tamil television viewing audience. As a VJ, she gained success throughthe shows - Sattam Solvathu Enna?, Nanbenda, Saravanan Meenatchi and Oor Suthalaam vaanga. As atelevision actress, she is known for the roles, Mannan Magal and Chinna Papa Periya Papa.

Chitra was born and brought up in Chennai. She completed her graduation in science from Dr. MGRJanaki College of Arts and Science for Women. A brilliant student, she was the University Rank Holder inBSc. Later she completed her PG in SIT College, Chennai. Chitra pursued modelling since her collegedays. She started off as an anchor for the show, Pathu Nimida Kadhaigal for Makkal TV while she wasdoing her post-graduation in Chennai. Since then she has been regular in TV shows exclusively forMakkal TV for a short period anchoring several reality shows as well as tele-shopping. She also didbanner ads for a few textiles. Nodiku Nodi Athiradi, Ooru Suthalam Vanga, En Samayal Araiyil andVilayadu Vaagai Soodu are some of her popular shows for Makkal TV.

After her stint as a successful VJ, she moved to acting as well. Since 2014, she plays a pivot role in thethird season of the comedy sitcom, Chinna Papa Periya Papa. It has been more than 3 years since Chitragot associated with the show. The show is being aired on SUN TV. She mostly plays supporting roles onsmall screen. Apart from acting and TV shows, she has also appeared in several TV ads and banners. Sheis the official anchor for many websites and also works as a Psychologist.
