Visu Biography

Visu is a well known celebrity of Tamil cinema. He is a writer and film director. He is also a stage and television actor and a host for many talk shows of Tamil television. Visu worked under great Tamil director K. Balachander before he started individual journey in Tamil cinema. He debut as an actor with the movie, Kudumbam Oru Kadambam and went on directing numerous hit movies in Tamil. Samsaram Adhu Minsaaram is one of the greatest films made by him and this movie has been later remade to many Indian languages like Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada etc. The movie received National award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Visu played key role in this movie as actor too. Credit of its screenplay also goes to his. "Visuvin Makkal Arangam" – the program aired in Jaya TV and Arratai Arangam of Sun TV are used to promote his foundation and make its services reach common man. He is one of the veteran directors of Tamil film industry.

 
Visu started his career in the early 1980’s. He started his journey as a scriptwriter. His debut movie was Thillu Mullu released in the year 1981. Rajinikanth and Madhavi played lead roles in this movie. Most recently Visu raised objection when this movie was remade. He demanded the ban of the movie as it was made without seeking movie makers’ permission. His second movie was Kudumbam Oru Kadambam, where he appeared on screen for the first time. He wrote its script as well as dialogues. As an independent director his first movie was Kanmani Poonga, released the following year.

 
Till 1985, he worked as actor, director and script writer of the movies, Aval Sumangalithan, Manal Kayiru, Dowry Kalyanam, Puyal Kadantha Boomi, Puthiya Sagaptham, Ketti Melam, Rajathanthiram, Vaai Sollil Veeranadi and Nanayamillatha Nanayam. He has appeared in movies directed by other directors. A few of such movies include –Chidambara Rahasiyam, Oomai Vizhigal, Mella Thirandhathu Kadhavu and Mr. Bharath. He has appeared in Rajinikanth movies like - Mannan, Uzhaipali, Arunachalam.

 

Visu died from kidney failure on 22 March 2020 at Chennai.
