Vishal Dhadlani Biography

Vishal Dhadlani along with Shekar Ravjiani forms the famous music composer duo of Bollywood – Vishal – Shekhar. They together have given amazing compositions like Om Shanti Om, Golmaal, Anjana Anjani, I hate love stories, Dosthana, Ra.One, Bluff master, Pyar mein kabhi kabhi, Kahani, Student of the year, Musafir, Jhankar beats, Bachna e haseeno, Tashan, Tees maar Khan and Kaante. Vishal Dhadlani was also seen in the picturation of the famous item song of Katrina Kaif in the movie Tees maar Khan – Sheila ki jawani. Their new movies – Happy New Year and Chennai Express are to release soon. They are counted among the top music directors of Bollywood at present.

Though he is among the most sought music directors at present, Vishal Dhadlani has never received any formal training in music. His only experience is the collection of music cassettes owned by his father, collected from worldwide. Listening to those tunes, he learnt and developed passion in music as well. At present he is a vocalist of Mumbai-based electronic band Pentagram. He has sung the song ‘Minds without fear’ along with Imogen Heap for an episode of ‘The Dewarists’.  He along with Shekar Ravjiani has done many successful stage shows.

As music directors, this combination united for the first time for Pyar mein kabhi kabhi. This movie is an association of a new team, including new set of actors like Rhinkie Khanna and Dino Morea. Though the movie was a big flop, the song Musu Musu sung by Shaan and Dil se tu door na jaana were well noticed. Then they teamed up again for Kaante in 2002. Songs in Sufi style like ‘Mahi ve’ were well appreciated.  The magic was repeated for the second time when they decided to give homage to R.D.Burman through the movie ‘Jhankar beats’. Surprisingly its music won R.D.Burman New talent award too. Songs like Dil ne tumko and Tu aashique ruled the chart busters.  After that, they didn’t look back and has delivered music of all types – from slow melodies to high pitched songs and became popular hit makers too.

As a singer also, Vishal Dhadlani has sung for a few hit songs like Kurbaan hua composed by Salim Merchant for the movie Kurbaan and ‘Dhan te nan’ for Vishal Bhardwaj’s composition in Kameeney.
