Vinu Chakravarthy Biography 
Vinu Chakravarthy is a popular character artist of Tamil cinema, best known as a comedian. He has acted in more than 1000 movies belonging to all south Indian languages including Badaka. Vinu is a script writer too and has directed a few movies. 2007 movie Munni marked his 1000th role. Though a few, he has done some memorable roles in Malayalam cinema. His signature role as Veeramuthu Goundar in 1993 blockbuster Meleparambil Aanveedu is still remembered by movie lovers. He last appeared in bilingual Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram (Vaayai Moodi Pesavum). Vinu is credited to introducing sex siren Silk Smitha to film world.
Chakravarthy was born on December 15, 1945, in Usilampatti, Tamil Nadu. He completed graduation in commerce from A. M. Jain College. He briefly worked as a Reserve Sub-Inspector at the Ice House police station soon after graduation and later worked in Southern Railways for 4 years. As an actor, his first role was given by producer Tiruppur Mani for the Kannada film Parasangada Gendetimma (1977) which was later remade to Tamil. Later he went on to act in more than 1000 movies, of which 900+ movies belong to Tamil language. He has played the role of a comedian, supporting actor and villain.
Chakravarthy is always referred to as the ‘lucky token’ by Rajinikanth. Together they have worked in 25 movies and all of them have become super hits or blockbusters; Arunachalam, Thambikku Entha Ooru, Annamalai, Manithan, Veera, Arunachalam, Sivaji, Mappillai, Panakkaran and Rajadhi Raja to name a few. He has also shared screen space with Sivaji Ganesan and Kamal Hassan. He openly criticized Ekta kapoor for her depiction of Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture and her choice to cast Vidya Balan for the role. However Vidya bagged both Filmfare and National awards for the role. In August 2015, Vinu fell critically ill.
