Vinayakan Biography

Vinayakan is a noted film actor of south Indian cinema, known for portraying character roles. He works predominantly in Malayalam cinema and has also appeared in a few Bollywood films. He has excelled in essaying negative shaded roles. Known for his distinct looks, body language and mannerisms, the talented actor loves the space he has created for himself. His looks and sharp eyes have made an impressive impact on audience, even if his screen presence is short. Vinayakan has received less number of full-fledged movie roles.

He made name as a dancer in the 1990s through the shows he done across Kerala, under his troupe - ‘Black Mercury’. Bachelor Party, Njan Steve Lopez, Aadu - Oru Bheegara Jeevi Aanu, Seconds, Maryan, Iyobinte Pustakam, 5 Sundarikal, Masala Republic and Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus are among his noted appearances in the recent times. Kummattipadam starring Dulquer Salman is his upcoming flick.

He entered the entertainment scene in the 1990s as a member of the dance troupe, Black Mercury which performed in live shows across Kerala. ‘Fire dance’ was his specialty. After spending so many years in dance performances, he landed into bit roles in Thampi Kannathanam’s Manthrikam and seven years later in - Onnaman, though the actor didn’t have any acting plans before. So he is grateful to Thampi Kannathanam to give him the break to movies. With his third movie, Stop Violence, where he played the pivot role of Montha, he earned recognition and thus he stayed in films forever.

Later he moved to Tamil and Telugu movies and also Bollywood films. He acted in Dhanush starrer Tamil film, Maryan. Though he initially refused the role, he was finally convinced by Bharat Bala. He also received some meaty roles in Malayalam movies like Seconds and Bachelor Party. He played a menacing killer in Amal Neerad’s Big B.
