Vimi Biography

Vimi of Humraaz fame, was one of the most charming beauties of Bollywood late 60’s and early 70’s. She was most noted for her beautiful face, stunning appearance and fashion consciousness. Yet she belongs to the same group of actresses like Jiah Khan, who dreamt big about Bollywood, had talent and good looks, yet couldn’t make big success in the wonderland of Bollywood. Though had a magical start similar to many heroines, she couldn’t find enough opportunities or helping hands in the industry and she left the world at a comparatively younger age of late 30’s, due to financial problems and over drinking. The most tragic part is that, though at the peak of her career she had a huge fan crowd following her, she died like an orphan in Nanavati hospital, Mumbai in general ward with no relatives, film friends or even a penny left! Her death too remains a mystery though given reason was excess usage of cheap alcohol.   

It was not easy for a married woman with kids to enter Bollywood as heroine in B.R.Chopra’s film. Yet luck stroke Vimi’s life in an unpredictable manner. She was spotted by music director Ravi in a private party. She attended the function with her husband, Shiv Aggarwal. Ravi was impressed by her looks as well as singing talent that she exhibited in the party. On his request, she along with her husband met B.R.Chopra later and she got her first movie – Humraaz. She was paired opposite Raaj Kumar and Sunil Dutt and that movie proved to be the blockbuster hit. She rose to stardom and frequently appeared in parties and film magazine photo shoots. She was praised for her beauty by everyone. She dreamt big too. But when she gave importance to her looks than her acting talents, she lost her way somewhere and film world too, forgot her very soon.

She played lead role in movies like – Aabroo, Pathanga and Vachan, opposite Shashi Kapoor, being the last. When she lost her stardom, her relationship with husband too became tense and as he was more interested in making money with her beauty, they slowly drifted away. Yet this soft hearted woman strived hard, tried several means to get opportunity. Yet she was never able to get a magical role similar to her debut movie. After divorce with her husband, she stayed with a film broker, Jolly who stayed with her still she left the world!
