Vikram Pillay Biography
Vikram Pillay is an Indian sportsman who competes in the game of hockey. He was a part of the Indian team that won the Hockey Junior World Cup in 2001.
Vikram Pillay was born on 27th November 1981 in Khadki near Pune in Maharashtra in a lower middle class family. His father’s name is Vishnu and his mother’s name is Pushpa. His father is a workshop worker. He has three brothers and two of them Vikas and Vinod are also hockey players.
Vikram studied at All Saints High School. It was while playing for the school hockey team that he gained attention. He played for Kids XI and Champions Sports Club. He was coached by his school games teacher Shyamsundar Gangadhar Sathe. He joined Union Bank of India team. He was coached by Nasir Khan and then he joined Tatas Sports Club. He then started playing for Indian Airlines and Air India team.
He was a part of the team that played Samaranch Cup in May 2001. He also played in the Men’s Challenge Cup, Champions Trophy and was a part of the Indian team in Athens Olympics 2004. India finished up in 7th place in that Olympics.
