Vikas Krishan Yadav Biography

Vikas Krishan Yadav is an Indian sportsman who competes in the game of boxing. He was honored with Arjuna Award for his excellence in boxing by the Government of India in 2012.

 

Vikas Krishan Yadav was born on 10th February 1992 in Singhwa Khas in Hisar District of Haryana. His father’s name is Krishan Kumar Yadav. His father is an employee in the Electricity Department. He came to Bhiwani and joined the Bhiwani Boxing Club in the year 2003. He got training in the Army Sports Institute at Pune. He is employed at the Haryana State Electricity Board.

 

This AIBA Youth World Champion was awarded the Best Young Athlete of the Year. He is very much encouraged by his mother in his boxing career. He appeared AIBA Cadet World Championships in Baku in 2007 and he was only 15 years old at that time and got gold medal in that event. He picked up the Best Boxer trophy at the Children of Asia Games 2008 in Yakutsk.

 

He got the gold medal at the annual Indian Youth National Championships in 2009. He competes in the lightweight class usually. He won gold medal at the Asian Youth Boxing Championships at Teheran in March 2010 and at the Youth World Amateur Boxing Championships at Baku in 2010 in lightweight category. He won bronze medal at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics held at Singapore on 24th August 2010. He grabbed gold at the Asian Games 2010 on 25th November 2010. He represented India at the 2012 London Olympics but could not make it up.
