Vijayalakshmi Biography

Vijayalakshmi is a Tamil film actress who made her film debut through Tamil film Chennai 600028 (2007). She is the younger daughter of National award winning director of Kathal Kottai fame – Agathiyan. Her sister Karthika is also a well-known TV anchor of Makkal TV, who is married to noted film director Thiru of Samar fame. Since 2007 Vijayalakshmi is active in film field and her last release was 2014 box office hit, Aadama Jaichomada, which received rave reviews from critics. The movie deals with corruption in cricket. Vijayalakshmi tied the knot with assistant director Feroz Mohammed in September 2015. The two knew each other since childhood and has been in a long relationship.

Vijayalakshmi was born into a film family. Her father Agathiyan has been a struggled artist who strived hard to achieve success in the film industry. Her first break to Tamil cinema was given by popular director, Venkat prabhu, known for giving many memorable movies to Tamil cinema. She played female lead in 2007 sports comedy - Chennai 600028. Actually Venkat too became an independent director through this sports film. It’s interesting film title was derived from a postal pin code of a real place in Chennai, where the plot takes place. The movie with an ensemble star cast of Jai, Shiva, Vijayalakshmi, Nithin Sathya, Aravind Akash, Premji Amaren and Vijay Vasanth was a box office super hit. The actress also received a nomination at Vijay Award for Best Debut Actress.

It was followed by the highly acclaimed ‘Anjathe’ in 2008 where she played the female lead – Uthra. Directed by Mysskin starring narein and Prasanna, the movie was praised for its technical expertise and performances. She was seen in a cameo role in Venkat Prabhu’s Saroja the same year, the director who gave her first break to movies. She is associated with the upcoming animated film, Sultan The Warrior.
