Vijay Babu is an ace actor of Mollywood at present, who portrays positive as well as negative roles gracefully. Most recently in 2014 he played the lead hero opposite Rima Kallingal in the thriller – Escape to Uganda, which received positive response from critics and audience. He played Mohanlal’s assistant in 2014 May release – Mr. Fraud. He is to play a pivot role in Mohanlal’s upcoming release – Peruchazhi. No.66 Madhura bus, Kalyanam, Aadu Oru Bheekara jeeviyanu, Pappan Sir of Philips and the Monkey Pen, and the SI George of Honey Bee are among his memorable roles. He played the role of drunken lawyer and antagonist in Asif Ali’s Bicycle thieves in 2013, which was praised by critics. He is a businessman and entrepreneur who later joined film industry.

Vijay has been an entrepreneur, a media person and a marketing personal working with Asianet television before entering movies. He has 16 long years of experience in media field and made a late entry to film industry. Head of Asianet from the Middle East, CEO for Asianet Sithara in Hyderabad, and the vice president for Soorya are the senior posts held by Vijay before. He left the field when he felt that there is nothing left for him in this field. He started off in film industry as a producer and now one of the most wanted actors of Malayalam film industry. Philips and Monkey Pen, Peruchazhi and Kalyanam are produced by him.

He was a weekend actor at first handling less significant and bit roles and later moved to this field seriously. Vijay Babu in 3 Kings was his first noted appearance followed by 22 Female Kottayam, where he handled the comic role of Benny. Later he played serious role in Lal Jose’s highly acclaimed movie - Ayalum Njanum Thammil and established himself in Mollywood. Most recently Lal Jose has announced his next project, with Vijay playing the lead role.
