Vijay Adhiraj Biography

Vijay Adhiraj is a noted film and television actor associated with Tamil cinema. He is also a successful television anchor and live event host. After playing a few supporting roles in Tamil films, he made his debut as a director with the film – Puthagam in 2013. He is associated with film scene since later 1990s and has appeared in movies, Ponnu Veetukkaran, Manava 2020, Roja Kootam, Three Roses and Pattaya Kelappanum Pandiya.

Vijay’s father is from Vijaywada and his mother is a Telugu writer from Machilippatnam. His father is a lawyer and chartered accountant. His granduncle C. H. Narayanamurthy was a scriptwriter of Tamil movies. Thus Vijay belongs to the third generation of artists. He studied at Chennai at Don Bosco School. Famous Chess Player Viswanath Anand and cine artist Aravind Swamy were his classmates. He was an average student at studies. So he came to Hyderabad to do a simple course to complete graduation. After graduation he reached Chennai where he started his career as a marketing executive, followed by Indian Express.

Vijay started his career through television before movies to films. His first appearance was for a Hindi film, Sahasrapan Apne (1992), produced by Doordarshan and NFDC, written by Narasimha Rao. It was his dream to become a director, a dream he cherished for long 14 years before he made his debut film - Puthagam in 2013. He wrote the script long back in 1998, but waiting for the right moment. The movie starred Sathya, Jagapati Babu and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles and received good responses from critics. Though he was not successful as an actor on big screen in the 2000s, he gained success as a TV host and live event host for many shows. He speaks in 6 Indian languages, apart from English and Russian.
