Vibhavari Deshpande Biography

Vibhavari Deshpande is a noted Marathi film and theatre actress. She is also known as a screenwriter and has directed a Kannada play Gumma Banda Gumma. Deshpande is active in theater with an Indo-German group "Grips", for kids. Apart from Marathi movies, she has appeared in bit roles in Bollywood movies like Dum kaata and Mumbai Meri Jaan. In the Marathi movie, Harishchandrachi Factory she played the role of supportive wife of Dadasaheb Phalke. In 2010, she played the role of Dwarka, wife of Guna, in the film Natarang. She played the role of Laxmi, Balgandharva's wife in the biopic ‘Balgandharva’ in 2011. Chintoo, Deool, Tuhya Dharma Koncha?, Shwaas and Saatchya Aat Gharat are other Marathi movie releases.

 

Her maiden name is Vibhawari Dixit. She started her career during college days when she appeared as a stage actress in college dramas. Later she attended theatre workshops conducted by Satyadev Dubey and also did various courses organised by National School of Drama, Delhi. She was also active in the writing department in those days. She wrote the dialogues for the Marathi TV serial Agnihotra that aired on Star Pravaha. Now she is active in theater with an Indo-German group "Grips", which conducts plays for kids.

 

2004 film Shwaas marked her big screen debut. She appeared in a bit role of a receptionist in this movie. She played the role of Ketaki, one among the seven college students in her next release - Saatchya Aat Gharat, produced by Smita Talwalkar. Later on, she appeared in supporting and main roles in many Marathi movies and has also appeared in a couple of Hindi movies in bit roles. She played lead role in the Marathi movie, Harishchandrachi Factory.
