Veena George Biography 
Veena George is a media personality turned politician. A successful TV anchor, she had 16 long years of experience in media before she took politics as her profession. A well-known face in television media, she has worked with several major Malayalam news channels as an anchor and producer. She is the first female executive editor among Malayalam news channels. In 2016 state assembly elections she successfully contested as LDF candidate from Aranmula constituency. She defeated sitting MLA and senior congress leader K Sivadasan Nair in the state assembly elections by a majority of 7646 votes.
Veena hails from Aramula of Pathanamthitta district. She completed her post-graduation studies from University of Kerala. She is married to Dr. George Joseph, the Association Secretary of Malankara Orthodox Church. Veena started her journalism career as a trainee with Kairali Television. Later she joined Manorama News as a news anchor. She got immense popularly as a news anchor and she presented numerous news programs and live shows on Manorama News Channel. Pularvela and Ee lokham are among her popular shows. She later worked with news channels India Vision and TV News. She served as the editor of India Vision, and later joined TV News as Executive Editor in 2015.
Veena has been associated with students’ politics since her college days. She worked with pro-Left organizations in those days. She believes that political life is the continuation of journalist life. In 2016 state assembly elections she stood as LDF candidate against senior Congress politician, K Sivadasan Nair and won the elections. As a lady representative of Kerala society, she is one among the 8 women representatives of 140 member state assembly of Kerala. For her outstanding career as a news media personality, she has been awarded numerous awards and honours including Kerala TV Awards 2012 -Best Malayalam News Reader award.
