Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma Biography 
Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma is a noted lyricist of Malayalam and the son of legendary lyricist Vayalar Rama Varma. He was born in Vayalar, Cherthala of Alappuzha district and follows the footsteps of his father, whose unexpected death created a void that is impossible to diminish. Sarath wrote some memorable songs for movies like Neela Thamara, Pullippuliyum aattinkuttikalum and Mizhi randilum and known for bringing those nostalgic days of Malayalam through his beautiful poems. He received Asianet Film Award for Best Lyricist twice for the movies – Neelathamara and Mizhirandilum. "Anuraga Vilochananayi" of Neelathamara and Aalila Thaali and Enthinai Nin of Mizhirandilum are his most memorable songs.
Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma inherited the talent of writing poetry from his father. Ente Ponnu Thanmpuran marked the debut of Vayalar as a lyricist. He wrote the songs for legendary music director, Devarajan with whom his father has given the most memorable songs to Malayalam. Sarath regards it to be the most precious moment of his life to start his career with Devarajan. Devarajan advised him not to hum a tune and search for suitable words later.
His education was completed at Thiruvananthapuram and he gave up his dreams to become a doctor after the death of his father. He completed graduation from Mar Ivanios College. He was offered a job at a distillery near Cherthala soon after studies and he took it up. It was Malayatoor Ramakrishnan, his father’s close friend who helped him to get this job. The turning point of his life happened when he lost his job after 12 years and he took up writing. A devotional song of Lord Ayyappan was his first song. The song appeared in Tharangini's 10th volume of Ayyappa songs.
