Varun Gandhi is an Indian politician of Bharatiya Janata Party. He is the great-grandson of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and grandson of Indira Gandhi and Feroz Gandhi. He is the son of Sanjay Gandhi (younger brother of Rajiv Gandhi) and Maneka Gandhi. Sonia Gandhi is his aunt. Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are his first cousins. At present he is a member of Lok Sabha, representing the Pilibhit constituency. He was appointed as General Secretary of BJP, becoming the youngest General Secretary in the history of the party.

Varun Gandhi was born in Delhi on 13 March 1980 to Sanjay Gandhi and Maneka Gandhi. His father died in a plane crash when he was three months old in June 1980. Indira was assassinated when Varun was only 4 years old. The curse had not ended it. Rajiv Gandhi was killed by a human bomb in 1991 when young Varun was only 11. Soon after the death of his father, Maneka Gandhi left the household. Varun attended Rishi Valley School and the British School, New Delhi. He was involved in active politics at a younger age. He graduated from the London School of Economics, and completed PG in public policy from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.

He was the first politician to openly support Anna Hazare. On 24 August, he went to Ramlila Maidan as a common man to support him. In the 2009 general election, the BJP put Varun Gandhi as its candidate from the Pilibhit constituency instead of Maneka Gandhi. He won the seat by defeating V.M. Singh, by a margin of 281, 501 votes becoming the highest marginal winner in the Gandhi family. A case was filed against Gandhi for allegedly making a provocative speech about Muslims on March 2013. In May 2013, Varun Gandhi was made in-charge of the BJP's affairs in West Bengal. Now he is one of the powerful young members of BJP.
