Vandana Pathak Biography

Vandana Pathak is a noted character artist associated with Hindi and Gujarati entertainment industry. She works in both movies and television soaps, belonging to both these languages. She is of Gujarati origin and is quite popular for playing Gujarati roles in Bollywood movies. Doordarshan series Hum Paanch and Star Plus series’ Khichdi made her a household name. She is the daughter of actor Arvind Vaidya. She is also a noted theatre artist associated with Gujarati plays.

Vandana Vaidya is her maiden name and she was born to noted theater personality Arvind Vaidya in Ahmedabad. Her childhood days were spent in her hometown itself and following her father’s setps she too reached the world of Gujarati Theater. She is married to noted script writer-director Neeraj Pathak, known for his directorial ventures - Apne, Gumnaam and Right Yaaa Wrong. The couple has two kids.

Vandana Pathak started her television journey through Doordarshan series - Hum Paanch in 1995. She played the role of Meenakshi Mathur, the eldest daughter and a feminist in both its seasons. This comedy sitcom was indeed very popular in the mid-1990s and its second season was aired 10 years later. The show is noted for the appearance of Vidya Balan, who became a very successful Bollywood actress later. Vandana Pathak gained overnight stardom and iconic success along with the other stars of the show - Ashok Saraf, Vidya Balan, Rakhee Tandon, Bhairavi Raichura etc. Since then she has portrayed numerous character roles on small screen.

Khichdi, followed by Instant Khichdi as Jayshree Parekh is another breakthrough performance of her acting career. Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka, Mrs. & Mr. Sharma Allahabadwale, Badi Door Se Aaye Hai, R K Laxman Ki Duniya, Ye Meri Life Hai etc are a few more noted roles. Currently she plays the role of Gaura Suryavanshi in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya.
