Vaali Biography 
Vaali is an Indian poet and lyricist in Tamil language. He has created many poetical works and written number of Tamil songs. He also has acted in various films. He was nominated for the Padma Shri award for his contribution to literature.
He was born on 29th October 1931 in Srirangam in Trichy district of Tamil Nadu. His real name is Rangarajan. His parents are Srinivasa Iyengar and Ponnammal. He initially was working with the All India Radio. He has written more number of lyrics in Tamil and holds the record for that. He started to write lyrics for the films since 1960.
He is a good writer too and has written many books that include Pandavar Bhoomi, Ramanuja Kaviyam, Krishna Vijayam, Avathara Purushan, Kalaignar Kaviyam, Nannum Indha Nootrandum, etc.
He uses the words of other languages also in his songs. Before he became famous, he was suffering from abject poverty that he even thought about committing suicide once. Then he heard the song lines of Kannadasan, Unakkum Kezhey Ullavar Kodi Ninaiththup Paarthu Nimmadhi Naadu. This changed his mind set and got a determination in his life. He said that one time he had no food to eat for one whole day and then came a time when he had plate full of food but no time to eat.
He had worked as a lyricist for various films like Mankatha, Aadu Puli, Ayyan, Kanden, Engeyum Kaadhal, Ponnar Shankar, Sura, Goa, Vaalmiki, Aadhavan, Naan Kadavul, Naadodikal, Kuselan, Silambatam, Dasavatharam, Sakkarakatti, Saroja, Vallavan, Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, Anbe Aaruyire, Chandramukhi, Mounam Pesiyadhe, Lesa Lesa, Boy, Baba, Punnagai Dhesam, Priyamaanavale, Minnale, Yejaman, Valli, Paayum Puli, Kai Kodukkum Kai, etc. He acted in some films also like Poikal Kudhirai, Sathya, Hey Ram, and Parthale Paravasam.
