Ushoshi Sengupta Biography

Ushoshi Sengupta is a successful model from Bengal. She is the winner of the title ‘I Am She – Miss Universe India’ and represented India in Miss Universe 2010 held at Las Vegas in August 2010. She is to debut big screen with upcoming Malayalam project, ‘Goodbye December' where she has been paired in lead heroine role opposite Asif Ali. The movie that was announced to be released in 2012, has not released yet. She has also done a cameo appearance in 2012 blockbuster Bollywood hit – Houseful 2.

Ushoshi Sengupta was born in Kolkata on July 30, 1988. Her father is an Indian Air Force officer. She has been a brilliant student in studies who has won scholarships for her excellence in studies. Her education was completed from Kolkata itself. She was offered a scholarship to an engineering college. But as her interest was art she didn’t choose the subject. She graduated in Humanities from the St. Xavier’s College and started her modelling career as well. Watching movies, listening to good music and painting are her hobbies.

Since childhood, she dreamt to become Miss India. Sushmita Sen is her idol. She started her modelling career in the year 2008. She also appeared in a couple of television commercials. She was attending an audition at Mumbai for a new show on MTV when Malayalam film director Sajeed spotted her. He was in search of a Bengali actress to do a Bengali’s role in his upcoming flick, Goodbye December. She was excited when the lead role was offered to her. The movie is yet to get released. She learnt Kathak under Pandit Veeru Krishnan and it’s her dream to direct one movie.
