Url (rapper) Biography

Earl Edgar, known by his stage name - URL is an Indian singer, producer, composer and producer of Maharashtra origin. His simple "hindesh" lines and 'verses' have admirers across India. URL has been associated with a few Bollywood and Marathi films also, where he has added lyrics and done playback singing too. He wrote the lyrics of popular Marathi rap song - “Jithe mi jaate tithe tu diste”, and also "You're my love, my love, Janeja” from Bollywood film Partner. Associated with ad world too, he has done a few jingles for leading brands such as Nokia, Sony Ericson, Parry's Butterscotch, Kenstar, Kelvinator, Pepsi etc.

 

He was born to Maharashtrian parents in Bahrain. He spent his childhood days in Bahrain and moved to India during Kuwait war in the early 1990s. The family had to face some difficulties following this sudden shift. To financially support his family, he started singing in weddings and parties. He also assisted his mother in catering business. At the age of 19, he started a music institute called “Scherzando” to teach music to kids. He wrote songs and jingles whenever he got time. He also worked as a full-time teacher. In between he completed electronics engineering from Nasik, Maharashtra.  

 

He performed in night clubs, bars and restaurants during his struggling years. He also recorded albums. He got opportunity to compose a remix with originality for Jalwa 3 for Times Music. He was supposed to do the remixed version of peppy number "Bar BarDekho" of Shammi Kapoor’s China Town. There was no turning back after that. Apart from Bollywood, Tollywood and Marathi film scene, he also got opportunity to work in Hollywood. He has done numerous remix versions of hit singles of Bollywood films in the recent times.
