Upasana Singh Biography

Upasana Singh is an actress of Indian cinema who works in Punjabi, Hindi and Gujarati films. She is also a popular television actress. She mostly appears in comic roles and known for servant or illiterate lady/village girl roles. Among her movies, her role as Gangu tai in ‘My Friend Ganesha’ and its sequel are noted most. Her role as an illiterate home maid entertained kids and adults a lot. Among Bollywood movies, her appearance in Hulchul, Hungama, Aitraaz, Golmaal returns and Mujhse shaadi karoge were noted most, for its comic elements. She is married to Neeraj Bhardwaj in 2009. Comedy Nights with Kapil as Bua is one of her successful appearances at present.

Upasana appeared in Hindi cinema in bit roles during late half of 1980’s. She appeared in 1986 movie, Babul and 1989 movie, Paap ki saza. She also got a bit role in Yash Chopra’s Darr as a dancer in a song sequence. She appeared in bit roles in a series of movies during 1990’s. A few of them are Jawani Zindabad, Insaaf Ki Devi, Aaj Ki Taqat, Main Hoon Geeta, Ganga Ka Vachan, Loafer, Ab To Jeene Do and Sanam Tere Hain Hum. Yet none of these roles were recognized. Then she switched to television and became popular as well. From middle 2000’s onwards her roles in movies get appreciated. Her role as servant in Aitraaz was one such role. After the release of ‘My friend Ganesha’, she became a household name. She was the real star of this children film. 

As a television actress, she appeared in - Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai as Pinky, Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat as Bhanumati, Maayka as Lovely Bua, Bani - Ishq Da Kalma as Buaji, Pari Hoon Main as Mamiji, Comedy Nights with Kapil as Bua and Dill Mill Gayye as Sid's mom. A few of her Bollywood movies include – Judai, Sarfarosh, Mujhse shaadi karoge, Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!, God Tussi Great Ho, Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, Badaal, Ishq vishq, Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, Deewana Mastana and Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi.
