Udhayabhanu Maheswaran, shortly called Uday Mahesh is a noted film director and actor associated with Tamil cinema and television who shot to fame through the television series - Office. Naalai (2006) and Chakkara Viyugam (2008) are his directorial ventures in Tamil cinema. He got good reviews from critics for his good attempt for his debut film, Naalai, though it was not a huge success at box office. Natarajan Subramaniam played pivot roles in both these movies. In fact Natarajan was introduced to film scene as an actor through Naalai. Chakkara Viyugam was his second release as a director.

As a character artist too, he has shined in a few films and television serials. He is best known for portraying the strict officer role of Vishwanathan in Star Vijay Television series Office, which gave him instant fame and popularity. The show was successfully aired for two years since 2013. Uday has portrayed a few character roles for Tamil cinema, the most notable ones being, 144 (2015) and Enakkul Oruvan (2015). He played the strong character role of a police officer in Enakkul Oruvan. He also acted in Hindi – Tamil bilingual Madras Café, starring John Abraham in 2013, where he portrayed a supporting role. Idhu Namma Aalu – is his upcoming movie.

Moodar Koodam, Poriyaalan and Jeeva are a few more character roles he played onscreen. He portrayed the role of Raghavan in 2014 film Jeeva, while played the role of Salim Bhai in 2013 release Moodar Koodam, a black comedy directed by Naveen. He made his directorial debut with Naalai in 2006. The movie starred Richard Rishi, Natarajan Subramaniam, Madhumitha and Nassar in lead roles. His second release - Chakkara Viyugam starred Natarajan Subramaniam, Jayasurya and Daisy Bopanna in lead roles.
