Tota Roy Chowdhury Biography

Tota Roy Chowdhury is a Bengali film actor, who also appears in Tamil and Bollywood films. He is a successful television actor and martial artist associated with films. Most recently in 2016 he was seen in Bollywood film, Te3n. In 2014 he appeared in Vijay’s blockbuster Tamil film – Kaththi. Ek Phaali Rodh, Villain, Paglu 2, Mon Amour: Shesher Kobita Revisited, Shunya E Buke, Sunglass, Aborto, Bolo Na Tumi Amar, Dosar, Poran Jaye Jolia Re, Angshumaner Chhobi, Tintorettor Jishu etc are some of his noted Bengali film roles. He also did brief role in Bollywood film – Golmaal.

 

His real name is Pushparag Roy Choudhury. He hails from Kolkata, West Bengal. He is married to Sharmili Roy Choudhury and the couple has one daughter. Since school days he was interested in sports and has participated in football, basketball and athletics. He even won Best Athlete shield during his final year at school. Later he pursued his graduation and even made his mind to join Indian army. But he got a bit role for the movie - Lathi (1996) directed by Prabhat Roy, which proved to be a turning point of his life. Later he received many acting offers and he decided to choose acting as his profession. He gained success as an actor in movies and television, and is known for playing supporting roles.

 

The television series, 'Football’ in 2001 gave him a big break to acting career, when he was offered the lead hero role. His acting was well received and later he acted in TV serials, Taranath Tantrik, Mukhosh Manush, Ekhane Akash Neel, Ei Ghor Ei Shonsar, Ingeet etc. He was casted opposite Aishwarya Rai for the Bengali film, Chokher Bali, one of his best performances up-to-date.
