Tennis Krishna Biography

Tennis Krishna is a popular comedy and character actor associated with Kannada cinema. He has shared screen space with actress Rekha Das in 99 movies, which itself is a record. This popular comedian has acted in more than 350 film roles and has given some hilarious comedy scene with actors like Bank Janardhan in the 1990s and later. He has also rendered his voice for a few film songs for the movies - Veera Madakari, Neela Megha Shyama and Yaarige Beda Duddu! Made his film debut in 1990, he has successfully completed 25 years in Kannada film industry. Apart from Kannada movies, he has also done a few Tulu and Telugu movies.

He was born on 15 November 1949. He owns a theater background before his foray to films. This actor is known for his distinct voice and mannerisms. He was also a sportsman associated with tennis and has served as a coach. He used to teach amateurs and school children, the basics of Tennis. That’s why ‘Tennis’ tag got added to his name. This tag made easy to identify him among different actors of the industry who share the common name – Krishna.  Tennis tag was used by production controllers and filmmakers of the industry for easy identification and later the tag permanently got added to his name.

He has been always passionate about acting since younger days and has been a part of theatre and plays before he reached cinema. ‘Raja Kempu Roja’ released in 1990 marked his acting debut as a film actor and he played a comic role onscreen. But later he got similar kinds of role and got type casted a comic actor. He also got opportunity to play lead role in a few movies, ‘Appa Nanjappa Maga Gunjappa’ being the first one.
