Tej Sapru Biography

Tej Sapru is a character artist of Bollywood mostly known for playing negative roles. He belongs to a family of actors. He is the son of actor of yesterdays, Sapru and his sister Priti Sapru is a popular Punjabi actress, who has worked in a few Bollywood movies as well. He was a sports person, played badminton and cricket before reaching cinema. He has been a national level badminton champion and it was his father who identified the acting potential of young Sapru. He has worked in more than 200 movies. He holds the rare distinction of working in 12 languages and his distinct talent of delivering dialogues makes him an exception among actors.

Apart from movies Tej also works in television serials. Amatsya Rakshas in the historical television series Chandragupta Maurya is his most popular television role. Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli and The Zee Horror Show are other noted works. He has also worked in Qubool Hai, Saat Phere, Tumhari Pakhi, Palampur Express etc.

Tej Sapru entered film world in the late 1970s and 1979 movie Suraksha is one of his earliest Bollywood appearance. He portrayed the character role of Jackie in this movie. He rose to prominence in the 1980s, most popular being negative shaded ones. He also played sidekick to many leading villains since 1980s. He regularly appeared in movies in the 1990s. Sangram, Lahoo Ke Do Rang, Mohra, Suno Sasurjee, Doli Saja Ke Rakhna, Vishwatma, Raja Bhaiya, Khatron Ke Khiladi, Gupt: The Hidden Truth, Mohra, Sirf Tum and Saajan are some of his popular roles in the 1990s and later.
